Zipityzap is a quick and easy way to find and watch live streaming and on-demand internet television and movies. It's free, no software download is required and it also works with a wireless remote control. Zipityzap is unique in that it works with all browsers because it simply redirects users to the hosting website (or launches the appropriate player on the viewer's machine). For example, a MMS (Microsoft Media Server) stream will launch in the Windows Media Player (WMP). And there is no annoying advertising to look at. Some sites offer embedded media players such as Quicktime, Flash, RealPlayer or a proprietary player such as CNN's. It doesn't matter, we link to them all! If your PC does not have the appropriate player, you will have the option to download and install it. While there are some services such as Veoh and Joost that aggregate video, we at Zipityzap believe that content is best viewed at it's source. And besides, Zipityzap does not require a clunky software download. Zipityzap is the first and only internet television service in the world designed to work with a wireless remote control! Now you can channel-zap and watch internet television just like you do on a traditional television - from the comfort of your couch! Lots of stations are live, real-time internet streams and others are of the VOD (video on demand) variety. At first we tried to feature just live streaming internet television, but then we discovered lots of great on-demand stations. Then we started thinking about it - what exactly is "live?" When you watch The Office on cable tv, it really isn't live - it was previously recorded even though the stream is live. This brings up a new term: linear programming. A broadcaster can create a continuous stream of programming (thus the term linear) so that when you visit the channel it appears to be live. Anyway, from what we read about the future of television, it will all be "on demand" anyway. Lots of folks already get their programming on demand - for example those that record their shows for viewing on their schedule (Tivo, DVR). You can also find new-technology sites here such as Mogulus TV - whereby you can interact and/or comment in real time with other viewers and/or the programmers themselves. Or, if you'd like, start your own television station! Internet television will change how consumers receive entertainment. In the near future a new device by SlingMedia (the SlingCatcher) or Quartics $200 box will allow you to project what you see on your computer onto your television. You can also connect your PC to your TV with a $20 cable. This is important because you'll actually find higher quality entertainment (and educational programming) on Zipityzp than you can find on cable or satellite! Now you can watch internet television on your real television. All you need is a $20 cable. Most laptops today are equipped with an s-video connection and the video card has a built-in "tv out" capability. Consult your documentation. Even if you have a VGA port you can still connect your laptop to a TV, however you will need on of the new models which advertise "VGA" or "PC Input." After you purchase your cable, simply plug it in and activate your TV out function (hold down the blue function key (fn) and then depress the "TV out" key). The "TV out" key is the one that looks like a little television screen, usually a blue symbol on one of you function (f) keys. Multiple presses will result in different results. For example - video on the laptop and tv, video on the laptop only, video on the TV only.
